Play Stone Protectors Online
Pick a rockstar-turned-goblin, smash lizard armies with ridiculous weapons, and try not to question why the final boss is a floating head. It’s janky, unbalanced, and gloriously weird.
Stone Protectors came out on the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed by Eurocom. It was one of those games that felt a bit out of place, a side-scrolling beat 'em up based on a toy line, arriving when the SNES library was already full of more polished classics.
You control one of four rockstar heroes, each with their own oversized weapon, like a giant guitar or a massive boot, fighting through screen after screen of enemy creatures. The main goal is to rescue the kidnapped princess by clearing levels, defeating bosses, and collecting power-ups that enhance your attacks. The combat is simple but chaotic, with basic combos and special moves that drain your energy meter, and the level design forces you to push forward constantly against respawning foes. It's not a difficult game, but the hit detection can feel unfair and the pacing is relentless. Playing it feels like being dropped into a loud, slightly confusing cartoon where you just keep swinging until everything stops moving.
