1991 fighting game for Amiga. Features 8 playable characters with unique moves. Includes two-player versus mode. Battle AI opponents in arcade-style progression.
Game Overview
I remember picking up Street Fighter II on the Amiga back in 1991. It was a port by Tiertex, and at the time, having a version of this game at home felt like a big deal, even if it wasn't quite the arcade. The Amiga had its share of fighters, but this one carried a certain weight, a direct link to the cabinets we'd crowd around.
You choose one of eight fighters, like Ryu or Chun-Li, and take them through a series of one-on-one matches against the computer or a friend. The goal is to defeat all opponents and become the world warrior. Key mechanics include pulling off special moves, such as fireballs and dragon punches, by executing specific joystick and button combinations; blocking high and low attacks to minimize damage; and building a super meter through successful hits to unleash more powerful attacks. The pacing is brisk, though the difficulty can spike sharply against later fighters. It feels responsive and engaging, even with the hardware limitations, making each victory satisfying.
