Game Overview
I first got my hands on Street Fighter II - The World Warrior Disk2 on the Amiga back in 1992, a conversion handled by Tiertex and published by U.S. Gold. It was a big deal at the time, bringing the arcade experience home, though the Amiga hardware meant some compromises were inevitable. You had to load it from two disks, and the wait felt like forever, but it was the only way to play Street Fighter II without pumping endless coins into an arcade cabinet.
You pick one of the twelve world warriors, like Ryu or Chun-Li, and face off against the others in one-on-one fights across various global stages. The main goal is to beat every opponent and become the world warrior. You execute special moves, like Hadoukens and Sonic Booms, by inputting specific joystick and button combinations; landing these moves feels incredibly satisfying when you pull them off. Matches are fast and demand quick reflexes, with the difficulty ramping up significantly as you progress through the ranks. Despite some graphical and sound cutbacks compared to the arcade, the core fighting mechanics are all there, and it still delivers that tense, competitive thrill.
