1992 Amiga fighting game. Features 8 playable characters with unique moves. Includes two-player versus mode and single-player arcade ladder against AI opponents.
Game Overview
Street Fighter II: The World Warrior Disk 4 came to the Amiga in 1992, a conversion handled by Tiertex and published by U.S. Gold. It was a notable, if imperfect, attempt to bring Capcom's arcade hit to home computers at a time when many players were eager for a taste of the arcade experience without the constant need for coins.
You pick one of eight fighters, like Ryu or Chun-Li, and set out to defeat a series of CPU-controlled opponents in one-on-one matches. The main goal is to climb the ladder and face the four grand masters at the end. Signature mechanics include executing special moves, like fireballs and spinning bird kicks, by inputting specific joystick and button combinations; you also build a super meter by landing hits, which allows for more powerful attacks. The pacing is fast, though the Amiga version sometimes struggles with slowdown, and the difficulty can feel uneven. It feels like a rough but earnest translation of a game that deserved a smoother port.
