Super Breakout! came out for the Game Boy Color in 1999, published by Atari. It was a portable take on the arcade classic, arriving in an era when simple, focused games still had a place on handhelds. The game didn't try to reinvent the wheel; it just offered a solid brick-breaking experience you could take anywhere.

You control a paddle at the bottom of the screen, moving it left and right to bounce a ball upward and break all the bricks. The main goal is to clear each screen of bricks without letting the ball fall past your paddle. Signature mechanics include the Double mode, where you juggle two balls at once, and the Cavity mode, which hides balls inside certain bricks that burst free when hit. The pacing is steady but can get intense quickly, especially when the ball speeds up or new rows of bricks descend. It feels satisfying to clear a screen with a well-placed ricochet.
