Some forms are clearly better than others (the dragon’s fire breath is OP, but good luck squeezing through tight spaces with it), and half the fun is figuring out which creature works where. The levels are packed with hidden paths that only certain forms can reach, so you’ll backtrack just to see what’s behind that tiny tunnel you missed as the rhino.
