Play Super Nobunaga no Yabou - Bushou Fuuunroku (Japan) Online
You pick a warlord, scramble to build alliances before your neighbors invade, and micromanage armies across a beautifully pixelated map of feudal Japan—until someone inevitably betrays you.

Super Nobunaga no Yabou is one of those deep, old-school Koei strategy games where you spend half your time staring at menus and the other half nervously watching enemy armies march toward your castles. It’s the fourth Nobunaga’s Ambition game, but on the SNES—so expect pixelated warlords, turn-based battles, and a lot of diplomacy that mostly involves bribing people until they like you.
You start by picking a daimyo (I went with Oda Nobunaga, obviously) and then immediately panic because everyone around you has more troops. The map’s this gorgeous hand-drawn feudal Japan, and you’ll spend ages moving tiny soldiers around, negotiating with moody generals, and hoping your rice stockpile lasts the winter. Battles are simple at first—just throwing units at each other—but once ninjas and cavalry start showing up, things get messy fast.
It’s slow, punishing, and weirdly addictive once you get into the rhythm. Just don’t expect flashy action—this is all about long-term scheming and occasional betrayal. Perfect for a rainy afternoon if you’ve got patience.
