Play Super Sangokushi (Japan) Online
Pick a warlord, juggle officers and rice supplies, and try not to get betrayed while conquering China—all with chibi sprites and SNES-era charm. Lose battles because your army got stuck in a river, just like real history.

Super Sangokushi is one of those classic SNES strategy games where you pick a warlord—or make your own—and try to glue China back together after the Han Dynasty falls apart. At first, it feels like a slower, more thoughtful version of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, with these little chibi-style sprites moving around the map. You’ll spend a lot of time shuffling officers between cities, negotiating with rivals (who will absolutely backstab you), and praying your rice stockpile lasts through winter.
Combat’s simple but weirdly tense—you position units on a grid and watch them clash, but terrain and morale actually matter. I remember losing a battle because my guys got stuck in a river. Classic. The music’s got that nostalgic SNES synth vibe, and the menus are just Japanese enough to make you feel like you’re deciphering ancient scrolls. If you’re into retro strategy with some personality, this one’s got it. Just don’t trust Liu Bei.
