Superman: The Man of Steel on Genesis nails that vibe—right down to the slightly stiff controls that make flying feel like steering a bus. You start off clobbering goons in alleys (they go down in one hit, because obviously), then suddenly you're chucking cars at Metallo while dodging his glowing green fists. The sprites are chunky and satisfying, especially when Supes does that classic arms-out flight pose.

It's not perfect—sometimes you'll get stuck on a ledge mid-flight, and Kryptonite shows up way too often for my taste—but there's something weirdly charming about how 90s this feels. The music's all synth trumpets and heroic fanfares, like someone remixed the John Williams theme on a kazoo. If you've got nostalgia for era where superhero games were janky but full of heart, this one's a time capsule worth opening. Just don't expect it to hold your hand.
