Game Overview

Taekwon-Do on SNES is one of those fighting games that actually tries to feel like the real martial art—no fireballs or ridiculous special moves here. You pick from 19 fighters (or build your own with custom stats and looks), then throw down using proper taekwondo kicks and strikes. The controls take a minute to click—you’re combining directional inputs with buttons for different attacks—but once it does, landing a clean spinning hook kick feels satisfyingly precise.

There’s a tournament mode if you want structure, versus for couch battles, and a tag mode that’s way more chaotic than it sounds. Oddly charming detail: you can switch the text between Japanese and Korean, which is a nice touch for a niche fighter like this. Not the flashiest game on the SNES, but if you’re into methodical, stance-based combat, it’s got a unique rhythm.
