Key mechanics include dueling other swordsmen to improve your combat skill and engaging in a turn-based strategic conquest mode once you join a clan's military. The pacing is deliberately slow, demanding careful planning over quick action, and the difficulty comes from managing your limited resources and reputation. It feels like a patient, thoughtful climb from nothing to something.
