Game Overview
Tax Avoiders is this weirdly addictive Atari 2600 game where you play as John Q, scrambling to get rich while dodging the IRS. You start by grabbing dollar signs on the income screen—easy enough—but those red snake-like things (government red tape) come slithering after you. Time flies fast here—every second counts as a day, and you’ve only got one year to make your fortune.
Every season, things get more chaotic. You’re thrown into an investment screen where you gamble on tax shelters—half the time they pay off, half the time they tank. There’s also this guy who changes colors: black means Eggie the IRS agent (run, or he’ll audit you and take half your cash), pink is Waggie the CPA (he’ll upgrade your shelter for a fee), and green is Toodles the advisor (free upgrade to the best shelter).
By the end of the year, you’d better have a cool million after taxes, or it’s game over. It’s janky, stressful, and weirdly fun once you get the hang of it.
