Game Overview

Tenshi no Uta is one of those SNES RPGs that sticks with you—not because of flashy combat or grinding, but because it feels like stepping into a half-remembered dream. You play as this winged girl (no one seems to notice the wings, which I love) wandering through these moody, washed-out towns where everyone speaks in riddles. The music’s all soft piano and echoing choirs, and even the battle screens have this weird, misty glow to them.

It’s definitely slow—don’t go in expecting Chrono Trigger pacing—but the writing’s got this quiet sadness to it, like a Studio Ghibli film crossed with an old gothic novel. The turn-based fights are fine, but honestly? I just kept playing to hear the next piece of music or see what eerie little scene would play out next. If you’ve ever wished Terranigma had a weirder, more poetic cousin, here it is.

Fair warning: the translation’s a bit rough in spots, but that almost adds to the dream logic of it all. One of those games where you finish it and just sit there staring at the credits.
