Play Terminator 2 : Judgment Day Online

You play as a Terminator with a gun that jams if you spam fire, rationing shotgun shells for T-1000 ambushes while dodging pixelated liquid metal attacks. That steel mill boss fight still gives me nightmares.

Game Overview

Terminator 2 on Game Boy is one of those weirdly ambitious arcade-style shooters that somehow works. You blast through levels as a reprogrammed Terminator, mowing down enemies with a machine gun that actually overheats if you hold the trigger too long—which, let’s be honest, you absolutely will. The shotgun (or missile launcher, depending on the timeline) feels satisfying when you finally get to unload it, but ammo’s scarce, so you’ll hoard those shots for bigger threats.

The first half throws you into the future war, all rusted metal and glowing red eyes in the dark, before jumping back to 1995 for the movie’s iconic moments. The T-1000 fight at the steel mill is brutal, especially with those creepy close-up stills of Robert Patrick’s face popping up between waves. It’s janky in that classic Game Boy way, but the pacing keeps it tense. Just don’t expect Arnie’s voice clips to sound like anything but a tinny robot yelling "GET DOWN."
