Theme Park on the Amiga is one of those games where you blink and suddenly three hours have vanished. You start with a patch of land and a handful of basic rides—Teacups, a little Ferris wheel—but the real magic happens when you start tinkering. Paths need to make sense (no one wants to walk in circles), queues can’t be too long, and if you forget to toss in a few trees or a pond, visitors get weirdly grumpy about the lack of scenery.

The rides get wilder as you unlock them—roller coasters that twist over lakes, haunted houses that somehow always end up next to the cotton candy stand. And speaking of food, there’s something oddly satisfying about tweaking salt and sugar levels in your fries just to watch people go nuts for them. Hire enough janitors, though, or your pristine park turns into a trash heap by noon.

You’ve got rivals, too—other parks stealing your visitors if you slack on research or let prices creep too high. The sandbox mode is great for just building, but the full sim mode? That’s where the real chaos (and fun) kicks in. Just don’t blame me when you’re up at 2 AM micromanaging drink prices.
