Game Overview

Thunderground is one of those Atari 2600 games that starts simple but gets brutal fast. You're tunneling underground to blow up six nuclear bases, dodging these relentless Core Ranger tanks the whole time. The white Sentry tanks are bad enough—they'll snipe you through tunnels if they get a clean shot—but the blue Diggers? Those guys carve their own paths straight toward you like some kind of mechanical mole nightmare.

Meanwhile, there's always one Sentry slowly inching toward your reserves at the bottom of the screen. Forget about taking your time—if that thing reaches your stash before you wreck all six bases, you're down a life. And those "bonus" supply crates? Half the time I swear they're traps, luring you into Digger ambushes.

Later levels remove dirt entirely, so tanks come at you immediately, or make bases appear one by one just to mess with your rhythm. It's the kind of game where you'll mutter "one more try" at 2 AM while your joystick hand cramps up. Classic Atari stress.
