Game Overview

TimeSplitters Future Perfect came out on the Nintendo GameCube in 2005, developed by Free Radical Design. It was part of that generation's wave of fast-paced, personality-driven shooters that didn't take themselves too seriously, a nice contrast to the more cinematic or realistic games gaining traction at the time.

You play as Sergeant Cortez, a space marine hopping through time to stop an alien threat. Your main goal is to close time portals by completing missions across wildly different settings, from a medieval castle to a near-future military base. The gameplay hinges on responsive shooting with a huge arsenal of unconventional weapons, using time-based mechanics like interacting with past or future versions of yourself to solve puzzles or open paths. The pacing is relentless, throwing you from corridor firefights into vehicle sections or stealth sequences without much pause, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly during some of the more chaotic enemy encounters. It feels like a controlled explosion of pure, uncomplicated fun from start to finish.
