Tommy Gun came out in 1996 for the Amiga, developed by Mutation Software. It was a time when the Amiga was still home to a lot of creative, smaller-scale projects, and this one fit right in. You play as a tomato with a gun, which sounds silly, but the game takes itself just seriously enough to work.

You control Tommy Gun, moving on rails through five levels, shooting aliens and dodging their attacks. The main goal is to rescue prisoners; each one you save gives you a power-up, like a spread shot or temporary invincibility. The game supports two-player co-op, which makes the chaotic screen filling with enemies a bit more manageable. It moves fast, and the difficulty ramps up quickly, especially in later stages. Playing it feels like a brisk, slightly absurd arcade session that doesn’t overstay its welcome.
