Tonka Raceway came out for the Game Boy Color in 2001, developed by Tiertex Design Studios. It was part of that wave of licensed kids' games that filled out the handheld's library, straightforward and built around a familiar brand. You don't get a lot of frills, just a solid attempt to put big toy trucks on a small screen.
You control one of several Tonka trucks, racing against others on short, obstacle-filled tracks. The main goal is to finish first, but you spend most of your time navigating jumps, avoiding traffic cones, and sometimes shoving opponents off course. The trucks feel heavy and a bit slow to turn, which makes collisions impactful; you really feel the weight when you bounce off a wall or another racer. The difficulty is manageable for younger players, with courses that are more about memorizing layouts than pure speed. It feels like playing with your toys, just with a timer running.
