Game Overview

Tony Meola's Sidekicks Soccer is one of those SNES sports games that feels familiar right away—you’ve got your exhibition matches, a full season mode, and a decent selection of 64 teams (some national, some regional). No official licenses here, but hey, at least Tony Meola himself slapped his name on it.

The gameplay’s got that classic behind-the-player camera angle, which makes headers and bicycle kicks actually feel satisfying when you pull them off. Mode 7 does its thing for the pitch, so it’s got that slightly warpy, pseudo-3D look SNES games loved. Teams have their own quirks—some are faster, some hit harder—so you’ll end up picking favorites after a few matches. It’s not the deepest soccer sim, but it’s solid for a quick match when you’re in the mood.
