Top Gun: Firestorm came out for the Game Boy Color in 1999, published by Titus Interactive. It was one of those movie tie-ins that tried to capture the high speed jet action of the films on a handheld, back when developers were still figuring out how to make small screens feel big.
You pilot an F-14 Tomcat through a series of missions, taking on enemy fighters, bombers, and ground targets. The game uses an isometric view, which gives you a decent sense of space but makes precise aiming a constant challenge. You manage your speed and altitude, lock onto targets with missiles, and drop bombs on runways and installations. The missions are short but demanding, often throwing a lot of enemies at you at once. It feels like a tense, fast paced scramble where one wrong move ends things quickly.
