Game Overview
So Top Gun: The Second Mission is basically more of what made the first NES game fun, but with some weird twists. You're still blasting everything in sight from your F-14 (except your own aircraft carrier โ gotta land there between levels). The enemies are clearly Cold War-era Soviet stuff, even if they never actually say it.
What's new? Well, there's a 1v1 dogfight mode against MiG-25s, which feels way more intense than the main campaign. And if you've got a friend around, the split-screen versus mode is chaotic in the best way โ though you're both stuck flying identical Tomcats.
The levels get ridiculous fast. One minute you're dodging trees (yes, trees) and lightning bolts, the next you're fighting a Hind helicopter... then suddenly you're in space shooting at an armed shuttle. The giant Tu-160 bomber boss still gives me nightmares.
