Game Overview

Toy Story on Game Boy came out in 1996, developed by Tiertex and published by Disney. It was one of many licensed games from that era, built to run on the small, green-tinted screen of the original handheld. You don't expect much from a movie tie-in, but it had its own simple charm.

You control Woody, moving screen by screen through familiar locations like Andy's room and Sid's house. The goal is to rescue Buzz Lightyear's parts before Andy's family moves away. You jump over gaps, avoid or outsmart enemies like mutant toys and RC cars, and collect batteries to open certain doors. The pacing is methodical, and some jumps require precise timing, which can be unforgiving on such a small display. It feels like a condensed, slightly clunky adventure that captures just enough of the film's spirit to keep you tapping the D-pad.
