Play True Lies (World) Online
You play as pixelated Arnold blasting through terrorists in a nightclub, tossing grenades between cheesy one-liners—controls are clunky but the chaos feels right. Later you’ll crash a car through walls with that janky Genesis physics we secretly love.

True Lies on the Sega Genesis, released in 1994 by Beam Software, was one of those licensed games that felt right at home on the system. It arrived during the peak of the 16-bit era, when movie tie-ins were plentiful and often surprisingly competent, if not always groundbreaking. Based on the Arnold Schwarzenegger film, it captured the over-the-top action vibe that was so common in games of that time.
You control Harry Tasker, a secret agent, moving through side-scrolling levels to stop a terrorist threat. Your main objective is to shoot your way through waves of enemies, using a standard firearm and a limited supply of grenades. The game features destructible environments, which allow you to blast through certain walls and obstacles to find secrets or create new paths. You also pilot a Harrier jet in some stages, switching the perspective to a behind-the-vehicle view for target-based shooting sections. The pacing is fast and the difficulty can be unforgiving, with limited continues adding to the tension. It feels like a straightforward, explosive arcade experience that doesn’t overcomplicate things.
