Uniracers is this weird, brilliant little SNES game where you race unicycles—yes, unicycles—at breakneck speeds while pulling off ridiculous stunts. At first glance, it looks like a stripped-down Sonic clone, but the moment you land your first backflip and suddenly rocket ahead, you realize there’s way more to it.

The controls are simple: hold a button to go faster, tap another to jump, and twist the D-pad mid-air to pull off tricks. The better the trick, the more speed you get when you land. Mess up, though, and you’ll eat dirt while your opponent (or the clock) leaves you behind. Some levels are pure races, others are stunt challenges where you’ve gotta rack up points before time runs out.

It shouldn’t work, but it does—there’s something oddly satisfying about nailing a perfect corkscrew over a ramp and blasting past the finish line. Just don’t be surprised if you wipe out a lot before getting the hang of it.
