Vigilante 8 for the Game Boy Color came out in 2000, developed by Luxoflux and published by Activision. It was part of that wave of late-era GBC titles that tried to squeeze console-style action onto the handheld, and it stood out for bringing vehicular combat to a system better known for platformers and RPGs.
You pick a driver with their own armed vehicle, then enter small, enclosed battle arenas where the goal is to destroy every other car on the screen. The controls are straightforward; you drive, shoot, and use special weapons picked up around the map. The arenas are packed with destructible objects like sheds and signs, which you can plow through or blow up for items. Matches are fast and often chaotic, with a difficulty that spikes when multiple enemies gang up on you. It feels scrappy and immediate, like a pocket-sized demolition derby where every hit matters.
