Waku Waku 7 is one of those weird, hyper-colorful Neo Geo fighters that feels like it was designed by someone who had too much sugar. You pick from seven totally bizarre characters—like a cowboy riding a dinosaur or a girl who fights with a giant paintbrush—and then just go nuts with over-the-top special moves. The whole thing has this manic energy where every hit sends sparks flying and the announcer won’t shut up about "WAKU WAKU!"
The story’s basically an excuse to punch people over magic wish-granting orbs, but who cares? Matches are fast, chaotic, and just the right kind of stupid. Half the fun is seeing how ridiculous your fighter’s super move looks—my personal favorite is the samurai who summons a whole dang castle to crush the opponent. It’s not the deepest fighter out there, but it’s hard not to grin when you’re playing.
