Wario World came out on the GameCube in 2003, developed and published by Nintendo. You don't play as a hero; you play as Wario, a greedy, garlic-breathing brute whose treasure has been stolen and castle cursed.

You control Wario directly, punching, spinning, and pile-driving your way through screen-based levels filled with strange enemies and environmental puzzles. The main goal is to collect treasure key pieces and rescue golden Wario statues to progress, all while hoarding as many coins as possible. Signature moves include picking up stunned enemies to use as weapons or performing a ground pound that can reveal hidden passages. The pacing is fast and aggressive, with a difficulty that spikes noticeably in the later stages. It feels like controlled, joyful destruction from start to finish.
