Warriors of the Lost Empire is one of those PSP dungeon crawlers that feels like a weird mix of old-school RPG and hack-and-slash. You play as a mercenary hired to track down a missing emperor—pretty standard setup, but the fun comes from how you tackle it. Picking your class actually matters here: highlanders hit hard but move slow, dark seekers are glass cannons, and gladiators are all about balance. I went with gladiator first, thinking I’d play it safe, but halfway through the first dungeon, I regretted not picking something faster.

The dungeons are bite-sized labyrinths you pick from a map, each with a difficulty rating that doesn’t always tell the full story. One minute you’re breezing through skeletons, the next you’re getting ambushed by spiders that poison you mid-combo. Status effects are no joke—paralysis especially—so you’ll want to keep heal nuts and sacred water on your belt at all times. Bombs? Save them for when three enemies corner you at once.

There’s a story mode, but honestly, I spent more time in dungeon mode just grinding for better gear. Multiplayer’s fun if you’ve got a friend with a copy, though good luck finding someone these days. It’s not the deepest RPG out there, but it’s got that satisfying loop of loot, level-ups, and narrowly escaping death in cramped corridors.
