Game Overview

I remember picking up We're Back! A Dinosaur's Tale for the Sega Genesis back in 1993. It was developed by Rocket Science Games and published by Hi Tech Expressions, one of those many licensed games that filled the shelves during the 16-bit era. It didn't stand out graphically or push the hardware, but it was a solid, straightforward platformer based on the animated film.

You take control of the four dinosaurs from the movie, switching between them to use their unique abilities. Rex can roar to stun enemies, Dweeb uses his long neck to reach high platforms, Elsa can glide, and Woog can smash through certain walls. The goal is to navigate through the city, rescuing lost children while avoiding animal control officers and other hazards. The levels are linear but require some backtracking and character swapping to access all areas. The pacing is a bit slow, and the hit detection can be frustrating at times. It feels like a competent, if unspectacular, effort to translate a cartoon into a playable experience.
