Game Overview

Winter Supersports 92 is one of those classic Amiga sports games that somehow makes mashing left and right buttons feel like an Olympic event. You’ve got eight winter sports to tackle—downhill skiing, bobsled, speed skating, even ski jumping—and they all play completely differently. The downhill stuff feels like a proper slalom, weaving between flags while trying not to wipe out, while the bobsled has this weirdly satisfying brake mechanic where you’re constantly adjusting your speed.

What’s cool is how the two-player mode works: you and a friend take turns in batches, so there’s always someone waiting to either cheer or heckle. The ski jump and speed skating events are pure button-mashing rhythm games—simple, but weirdly tense when you’re trying not to mess up the timing. And Skidoo Racing? That one’s a top-down mad dash where the screen scrolls just fast enough to make you panic when a turn sneaks up on you.

It’s not the deepest sports sim, but there’s something charming about how each event feels like its own little arcade game. Just don’t expect realism—this is very much ’92 Amiga physics, where crashing looks more like a cartoon tumble than an actual wipeout.
