Game Overview

Wipeout Pure on PSP is that perfect mix of futuristic racing and just enough chaos to keep you on your toes. You're piloting these sleek anti-gravity hovercrafts—some handle like dreams, others feel like you're wrestling a rocket—through twisting tracks filled with speed pads and weapon pickups. The first few races ease you in, but before long you're white-knuckling through turns at insane speeds, trying not to clip the walls while dodging missiles.

What really hooked me was the Zone mode, where your ship keeps accelerating uncontrollably until you inevitably explode in a glorious fireball. The classic Wipeout tracks are a nice throwback too, though the new PSP-exclusive ones really show off what the system could do. And yeah, unlocking faster ship classes feels rewarding—until you realize you now have to actually control them.

Still one of the best pick-up-and-play racers on PSP, especially with the ad-hoc multiplayer. Just don't blame me when you start seeing speed pads in your dreams.
