Play Wizard of Oz Online
Guide Dorothy and friends through Oz, solving puzzles, switching characters, and collecting items to find the Wizard in this colorful platformer from 1993.
Wizard of Oz came out on the Super Nintendo in 1993, developed by Manley & Associates. It was one of those many licensed games from the era, based on the classic film, and it arrived when the SNES library was full of platformers and action adventures. You don't hear much about it compared to the heavy hitters, but it has its own quiet place.
You control Dorothy, and later the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion, as you travel screen by screen across the land of Oz to reach the Emerald City. The main goal is to find the Wizard, which involves navigating themed levels, solving simple environmental puzzles, and collecting items like silver slippers and enchanted emeralds. A key mechanic is switching between characters on the fly to use their unique abilities; the Tin Man throws his axe, the Lion can roar to stun enemies, and Dorothy just jumps. The pacing is methodical, and some sections can feel a bit repetitive, but there's a straightforward charm to moving through the colorful, slightly odd levels. It feels like a calm, exploratory journey with just enough action to keep things interesting.
