Game Overview

Wolverine: Adamantium Rage is one of those SNES beat-em-ups that starts with a moody intro—Logan brooding in the X-Mansion, digging through files about his past before getting a cryptic tip to head north. The levels are these sprawling side-scrolling stages where you slash through ninjas, weird cyborgs, and mutant freaks while hunting for hidden health packs and upgrades tucked away in hard-to-reach spots.

What makes it stand out is how mobile Wolverine feels—he can wall-climb with his claws, do these ridiculous spinning dive attacks, and even slash mid-air. Some enemies are total damage sponges though, so you’ll be glad for those hidden power-ups. The boss fights are all X-Men deep cuts: Lady Deathstrike shows up, there’s this crystal dragon thing, and Shinobi Shaw (who, honestly, looks like he wandered in from a different game).

It’s not the smoothest brawler out there, but the atmosphere and Wolverine’s moveset make it weirdly satisfying when you’re in the zone. Just don’t expect the story to make much sense by the end.
