Play World Championship Soccer on Msdos Online
Control a soccer team, move players on a top-down field, score goals, tackle opponents, and shoot with power to win matches in this 1990 MS-DOS classic.
World Championship Soccer came out in 1990 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Elite Systems Ltd. It was one of the early soccer games on PC, arriving at a time when many sports titles were still figuring out how to translate fast action onto limited hardware. The game tried to capture the feel of international competition without the graphical flair we take for granted now.
You control a team of players, moving them around a top-down field with simple keyboard commands. The main objective is to score more goals than the opponent, navigating through defenses and trying to set up clear shots. Signature mechanics include sliding tackles to dispossess opponents and a power bar for shooting that determines the strength and height of your strike. The pacing is quick, almost frantic, with matches that can turn on a single mistake or a sudden breakaway. It feels like a stripped-down, sometimes clumsy, but always earnest attempt to bring the sport to the computer screen.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
