Two mechanics define the experience: you can collect power ups that change your shuriken into more powerful projectiles like fireballs, and you occasionally transform into the super powered Black Manta himself for limited periods. The pacing is uneven, with some frustrating enemy placements and a jump that feels a bit floaty and imprecise. Playing it feels like wrestling with an ambitious but unrefined game that demands patience to appreciate.
