Wrecking Crew came out for the NES in 1985, developed and published by Nintendo. It was one of those early titles that felt a bit different from the straightforward platformers and shooters of the time. While Mario was jumping on Goombas, this game had you tearing things down instead of building them up.

You control Mario, or sometimes Luigi in two-player mode, and your job is to demolish everything in each single-screen stage. You swing a hammer to break walls, ladders, and obstacles while dodging enemies like Fireballs and Eggplant Men. The goal is to smash all the required targets before your time runs out or you get caught. Some stages include doors you can use to escape enemies temporarily, and there are even hidden warp zones to discover. The pace is methodical, almost puzzle-like; you have to plan your route and time your swings to avoid getting cornered. It feels like a tense, strategic race against the clock with every move counting.
