WWE SmackDown! Vs. Raw 2008 on the DS is exactly what you'd want from a portable wrestling game—fast, chaotic, and packed with enough moves to make you forget you're playing on a tiny screen. The roster's stacked with WWE stars from that era, and the create-a-wrestler mode is surprisingly deep for a handheld title. I spent way too much time making a ridiculous neon-clad grappler before realizing I should probably learn how to actually play.
Matches feel quick and arcade-y, which works perfectly for on-the-go sessions. The controls take a minute to get used to (good luck pulling off a finisher without accidentally tapping the wrong button), but once it clicks, you'll be slamming opponents through tables like it's second nature. The career mode's a bit barebones compared to console versions, but for quick bursts of wrestling mayhem, it does the job.
Just don't expect it to look pretty—this is very much a DS game from 2007, with chunky models and some questionable animations. Still, if you've ever wanted to suplex someone on the bus, this is your chance.
