WWE SmackDown vs Raw 2010 on DS is one of those games that actually makes wrestling fun on a handheld. You start off picking from a roster of WWE and ECW stars—I always went for Jeff Hardy because his high-flying moves just feel right on the small screen. The controls take a minute to get used to (tap this, swipe that), but once you nail a few grapples and reversals, it clicks.
Creating your own wrestler is surprisingly deep for a DS game—you can tweak everything from their entrance music to what kind of taunts they throw. Matches get chaotic in the best way, especially when you trigger special moves. The Royal Rumble mode is a mess of limbs and button mashing, just like it should be.
It’s not perfect—the graphics are obviously DS-level rough—but if you’ve ever wanted to suplex someone during your commute, this’ll do the trick.
