X-Men for the Super Nintendo came out in 1993, developed and published by Capcom. You pick from a roster of mutants like Wolverine, Cyclops, or Gambit, each with their own unique attack. The goal is to fight through levels, defeat bosses like Juggernaut or Magneto, and stop a plot involving a mutant-hunting device. The gameplay is straightforward; you move screen by screen, clearing enemies before you can proceed. You use your character's special ability by holding a button to charge it, then releasing for a more powerful attack. The pacing is quick, but the difficulty ramps up sharply in later stages, especially during boss fights. It feels good to finally beat a tough section after a few tries, pulling off your character's moves just right.
