Game Overview

Xerix was part of the 0 MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a release that bundled several early titles for the platform. The game was developed and published by a small team, typical of the shareware scene in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It fits right in with the era's minimalist, high-challenge arcade-style games that relied on simple graphics and tight mechanics rather than narrative or complex visuals.

You control a small cursor or ship on a grid-based playfield, navigating through waves of enemy dots that home in on your position. The main objective is to survive as long as possible while racking up points by destroying adversaries or avoiding them. Signature mechanics include screen-by-screen progression, where each new level increases the speed and number of enemies, and a risk-reward system that sometimes lets you collect power-ups for temporary advantages. The pacing is relentless; the difficulty spikes quickly, demanding sharp reflexes and spatial awareness. Playing Xerix feels like a tense, nerve-wracking dance where every second counts and mistakes are instantly punished.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
