You push blocks and dodge traps in maze-like caves, then hit puzzles that make you pause—like realizing too late that boulder just trapped you instead of the enemy. Simple arrows, sneaky levels, zero hand-holding.

Game Overview

XQuest was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a release that bundled several titles from the platform's early years. While specific developer or publisher details are not widely remembered, the game fits squarely into that era of straightforward, exploration-driven adventures built for home computers. It doesn't try to overwhelm with complexity, just a clear goal and a world to navigate.

You control a lone adventurer delving into a series of underground caves, with the main objective being to solve puzzles and survive long enough to reach the exit of each level. The gameplay hinges on block-pushing mechanics to clear paths or trigger switches, combined with careful movement to avoid instant-death traps like falling boulders or hidden pits. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical; rushing usually ends badly. It feels like a quiet test of patience and foresight, where every screen demands your full attention.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
