YamYam is one of those SNES games you stumble on by accident and then wonder how you ever missed it. You play as this round, bouncy little guy—basically a sentient gumball with legs—navigating these maze-like stages packed with fruit to collect and weird little enemies to avoid. At first it feels like a Pac-Man clone, but then you realize you can dash, bounce off walls, and even chuck stuff at enemies. It gets chaotic fast.
The whole thing has this infectious energy—the colors pop, the music’s stupidly catchy, and the controls just feel good. Some levels are breezy, others make you sweat, but it never gets mean. It’s the kind of game you’d rent as a kid, beat in an afternoon, and then hum the soundtrack for weeks. Definitely a weird little time capsule from the SNES era.
