YamYam was a Super Nintendo Entertainment System release, though it never saw a wide commercial distribution. It fits right into that era of quirky, experimental platformers that felt like they were testing the hardware's limits, often from smaller, less-remembered developers.
You control a round, elastic character, navigating him through a series of single-screen puzzle rooms. The main goal is simply to reach the exit in each stage, but getting there means using your own body as a projectile; you stretch back and launch yourself across gaps, bouncing off walls and enemies to build momentum. The challenge comes from judging angles and managing your rebounds, as a mistimed launch can send you right into a hazard. It starts off deceptively simple, but the rooms quickly demand precise ricochets and clever use of the environment. The whole thing feels like being a rubber ball in a particularly dangerous pinball machine.
