Game Overview
Yie Ar Kung-Fu (V1.4) (J) is a stripped-down NES fighting game where you play as Lee, not Oolong like in the arcade version. The training hall background never changes, and you only fight five opponents instead of ten—but they’re weirdly memorable, like the guy who spams fireballs or the one who just floats around.
The controls are stiff by modern standards, but the wall jumps and jump kicks add a little flair. You’ll spend most matches trying to cheese the AI with the same two moves, since the move list is thin. It’s rough around the edges, but there’s something oddly charming about its simplicity.
Yie Ar Kung-Fu (V1.4) (J) feels like a bootleg version of itself, but that kind of makes it more interesting.
