You control Adol Christin and his party, traveling across the kingdom of Altago to investigate a mysterious illness and prevent an ancient catastrophe. The gameplay revolves around real-time combat where you switch between three party members on the fly, each with unique weapon types and skills that unlock as you use them. Dungeons are packed with environmental puzzles and bosses that test your timing and ability management. The pacing is brisk, with little downtime between exploration and combat, and the difficulty encourages you to master dodging and skill chaining. It feels responsive and satisfying, especially when you flawlessly chain attacks between characters to take down a tough enemy.
