Game Overview

If you're into Yu-Gi-Oh!, this DS version is one of the better ones—especially if you liked the 5D's era. You start off with a basic deck (of course), but the real fun is hunting down new cards and tweaking your strategy. The duels feel fast-paced for a handheld game, and the AI actually puts up a decent fight once you get past the early matches.

What I like is how it doesn’t just throw you into random battles—there’s a story mode that follows the anime, so you’re dueling on motorcycles (because, you know, 5D’s) and facing off against familiar rivals. The card pool is huge, too, so if you’re the type who spends way too long fine-tuning a deck before actually playing, you’ll have plenty to work with. Just watch out for those later opponents—some of them pull off ridiculous combos out of nowhere.

It’s not perfect (the dialogue can be cheesy, and the music loops get old), but if you want a solid portable Yu-Gi-Oh! game, this one holds up.
