You control a custom character navigating a top down world, talking to NPCs and challenging duelists to build your reputation and card collection. The main goal is to compete in tournaments and story events, climbing the ranks to become the champion. Signature mechanics include riding your Duel Runner for screen by screen exploration of Neo Domino City and engaging in high speed Riding Duels, which use a separate Speed Spell card mechanic tied to your Speed Counter. You'll spend a lot of time tweaking your deck, testing new combos, and grinding for specific cards to counter tough opponents. The pacing is deliberate, with a noticeable difficulty spike that forces you to adapt or rebuild your strategy entirely. It feels satisfying to finally assemble a deck that can consistently win against the game's more cunning AI.
