Zombies Ate My Neighbors is one of those SNES games that somehow makes being chased by chainsaw-wielding maniacs and giant demonic babies weirdly fun. You play as either Zeke or Julia, armed with everything from water guns to bazookas, trying to save your neighbors before monsters turn them into snacks. The levels are ridiculous in the best way—one minute you're dodging zombies in a grocery store, the next you're fending off werewolves at a backyard barbecue.
What I love is how chaotic it gets. You’ll be frantically searching for survivors while some UFO or mummy closes in, and half the time you accidentally blow up a soda machine instead of the actual enemy. The two-player co-op turns the madness up even more—just try not to shoot your friend in the back with the flamethrower (okay, maybe do that once for fun). It’s got this perfect mix of horror and goofiness that still holds up.
Oh, and good luck with those bosses. Nothing prepares you for the first time a 50-foot toddler starts stomping toward you.
