Zoo Tycoon on the DS is one of those games where you start with a patch of dirt and end up obsessing over whether your penguins have enough shade. You’ll sketch out paths, plop down enclosures, and try not to bankrupt yourself buying flamingos—because, surprise, they’re pricier than you’d think.
The touch controls work well for dragging fences around or tapping to feed animals, though sometimes the lions get moody if you forget their toys.
