I picked up 2 In 1 - Sonic Advance & Chu Chu Rocket for the Game Boy Advance back in 2004, a compilation put out by THQ and Sega. It was a solid twofer for the handheld, bundling a classic platformer with a quirky puzzle game, which felt like a good deal for anyone with a GBA at the time.
In Sonic Advance, you control Sonic or his friends, dashing through side scrolling stages, bouncing off enemies, and collecting rings. The main goal is to reach the end of each act while avoiding hazards and bosses. You jump, spin attack, and use character specific moves like Tails' flight to navigate loops and obstacles. Chu Chu Rocket is a puzzle game where you place arrows on a grid to guide mice to their rockets while avoiding cats. You think several steps ahead, planning routes under a time limit. Both games are fast paced, with Sonic demanding quick reflexes and Chu Chu requiring sharp spatial reasoning. It feels satisfying to blast through zones or successfully outsmart the puzzle layout.
